My Tiny PlotWorking on Jackson’s Garden #2
I’m currently working on the next book in the Jackson’s Garden series. The first book was received really well and so I’m working on the next story that introduces tiny readers to the merits of bees! It’s not quite finished yet, I still have a few pages left to draw and paint but the story is taking shape.
I just love the process of thinking up the story, planning the layout, drawing painting and seeing the whole thing come together. I find it very relaxing, a bit like gardening really.

What a great idea for a children’s book. Not meaning to be morbid but I am continually surprised at how few bees there are now compared to when I was a child. A children’s book about bees is a great way to ensure children like bees and care about bees. Two important attributes for wanting a world when they grow up that is bee-friendly.
You are so talented! I love that your experience as a gardener and as a mom kind of came together in such a natural way to create these books. It’s very inspirational. :)
Congratulations on your book project! I love writing gardening books. In fact, I published five of them, largely on gardening history and for the sheer joy of research.
How ever did they develop a Brussels sprout in the mid-17th century, when new strains of brassica are almost impossible to keep pure? Did they grow garlic from true seed rather than cloves in the Middle Ages? (There are tantalising references from Turner through to William Cobbett that garlic seed is not necessarily sterile.) And so forth
