Purple Mangetout

My Mangetout is flowering. Actually, I had totally forgotten that it’s a purple variety until I saw the first flowers this morning. They really are amazing. And I love the way that you can see all the viens on the petals of the purple varieties.

When the pods form they have a unique dusty aubergine colour that is deep and seductive. And the taste is just as fresh and crunchy as regular Mangetout. And I must remember to sow some more before the Spring is through.

  3. They’re gorgeous! I’m growing purpled podded French beans this year and hope my own blossoms are the same colour as yours. Fingers crossed!

  4. The flowers look great on the mangetout. Nothing beats growing your own vegetables.

  5. You could grow those in decorative borders instead of sweet peas, as they have such good flowers.

  6. Oooh, they look lovely. I have sown some purple mange tout but they are only about 5cm high at the moment. I hope they turn out as pretty as your ones :-)
